1719-22 English Voyage around the World in War with Spanish Crown (George Shelvocke aboard Speedwell and other ships)
Shelvocke was a privateer and pirate authorized by the Admiralty to attack and plunder Spanish ships in the South Seas, between Peru and China. His account of his circumnavigation is one of intrigue, betrayal, and greed, but apparently he was a model of seamanship and navigation.
